Hi im 13 years old and my Family is in trouble My family have ran out of money we own a pub and we live upstairs in the pub we got a loan out to help us. anyway this guy called Dave Vick i think he is 49-50 years old anyway he offerd the loan guy 10,000 pounds to buy i and he accepted to it he came to the pub one day and he said hello clare my mothers name the guy said i own this pub now heres the loan. its a long story he pushed my sister outside on the ground and he threatend to kill her and shes pregnant. Get the police. You’re 13 and the only boy, but you’re still 13. Plus, if you do something (like trying to beat the guy up) there are two outcomes : you get the crap beat out of you or you get thrown in jail. Contact the police. The guy could get arrested for assault if you press charges. Though, I’m from the States and I’m guessing you’re from the U.K. or Northern Ireland, so I don’t know you’re laws. Either way, get the cops. They’ll help you out. Hope it helps.

My family hates me I don't know what to do?
I’m only 14 and I’ve already been banned from my family. So sometime before christmas, my mom got married, and everything was fine, but now my family hates me! My mom, never wants to talk to me! When ever I try to talk to her she scowls at me and tells me to shut up, but she always has time for her stepchildren! Tony, the stepdad, doesn’t give a crap about me. and my 16 year-old stepbrother, Anthony is evil! When ever he comes over, he is nothing but horrible to me for no reason! He cusses me out and tells me how I’ll be a virgin forever because I’m too fat, and ever since he’s started coming round, my 11 year old brother, lets call him little Satan has started to look up to Anthony and now he cusses me out too, blames stuff on me, and gets me grounded, for stuff he did! He also slaps me and pulls my hair, and threw a music stand at me. Today, Anthony pulled a chunk out of my hair, and he said ”What are you gonna do, bitch! You’re a girl, you can’t hurt me, I’m not scared!" so I kicked him in the nuts as hard as I could, but it didn’t seem to work, and she slapped me 3 times across my face and I have a bruise, and I don’t deserve to be treated this way!

im really sorry im the same age and i just want to let you know that nobody deserves to be treated that way. I feel for u and wish i could talk to you to tell you about it. No matter what you’ll be ok. Now i know this sounds stupid but i did it and it worked. Go talk to your guidance counselor at school. Even if they think your lying they HAVE to believe you, so its the best solution. I hope you feel better,and thats the best advice i can give:) and just remember, you’re beautiful.

Don’t listen to the person above. You are only fourteen, and you are entering teenagehood; and believe me, there is worse to come. The best thing to do is to keep a journal and write out all your anger, or join a sport or group that will take you away from home and distract you from the things going on around you. And I know that family life seems really tough right now, but keep a firm hold on yourself and a brave face and you will come out as the most sane, believe me.
You will have exams coming up? Then get some motivation by thinking about what you want to do when your older, or what countries you want to travel to– and keep your eye on the future, instead of concentrating on stuff at home.

wow hun im sorry to hear that your being treated this way. I would say talk to a school guidance counselor that’s what they are there for. You need someone to talk to and who understands your situation. Other then that is their any family members you can stay with? if not maybe you should out weigh the good and the bad. If you are truly being abused they can take you away from your family, I’m not saying this can have the best out come more times then not foster homes and group homes will be alot worst then your home life now. So start with talking to you parents about how you feel, if it continues talk to your guidance counselor and go from there. I wish you all the best of luck.

the first thing i would do is call the cops,you are young and don’t deserve to be treated like this,and they’ll send you to the Children’s Services and find you a temporary family and if you don’t want to, just pack and run away and find some family like an aunt or uncle to keep you at their house for a while,or just tell your story to a teacher you trust and they’ll report it for you and everything will be okay ,just remember there’s always a family with their arms open. A tricky probability question i got for my AP Stats Class. Best answer to whoever solves this. =D
Once upon a time there was a king who had a very lovely daughter, Now as it turned out, the court jester had the hots for the sweet young thing. However the king wasn’t too keen on the jester because th jester was kind of a jerk as hey were known to be in the olden times. Well, the jester really wanted to marry the king’s daughter, but, as you can guess , the king wasn’t going to make it easy on him. So yje king asks, "Tell you what, I will give you 3 urns and in them you will place 20 marbles, 10 white and 10 red. ANy number of marbles can go into the urns but at least one marble must be laced into each, and all the marbles must be used. I, the king, will then choose an urn at random and then withdraw one marble from that randomly selected urn. If i draw out a white marble, then you may have the hand of my lovely daughter n marriage and live happily ever after as long as you name your kids after me. If, on the other hand, i should draw a marble that is red, i will have your had, and you will be quite dead!"
Your question(pretending that you are the jester) is how many of each of the marbles should be placed into each urn to maximize your chances of survival and martial bliss? Then you must calculate the provability of survival and explain the entire problem.
if you place one white marble each in two urns and the remaining 18 marbles into the third urn, the probabiltiy for the king to draw a red marbe is 1/3*10/18=5/27 so in 22 of 27 cases the jester will get lucky…
he should like the odds…
securing two whole urns by not dropping a single red one in them guarantees a 2/3 probability to not loose since a big part of the success depends on which urn gets chosen… the two safe urns are bought relatively cheaply with just two white marbles leaving 8 to level out the remaining 10 red marbles in the not safe urn.
moving only one red marble to another urn changes the probability immensely in favor of the king…
then you would have one urn that is still safe… one urn that is an even split and one that is just slightly tilted towards red… in total 0+1/6+9/51 = 105/306 for the king to draw red… compared to 5/27=50/270=55/297

as per a bell curve, by evening the number of red marbles to white marbles will bring the probability to 50%.
urn 1 = 4 red, 4 white
urn 2 = 3 red, 3 white
urn 3 = 3 red, 3 white
if there are an even number of each color the odds are 50% independent of which urn the king chooses.

Is there a type of blindness in which you can only determine light and shadow?
I’ve been researching for about five months for a story I’ve been writing. One of the character blind, but I’m trying to be as politically correct as possible. I’ve heard somewhere that residual vision means you can’t see images, only light and shadow. So, if this is incorrect, what types of blindness are there and what are the differences?
There are a number of blindness’s which cause the above symptoms. Glaucoma can cause this, as can a number of others, traumatic blindness, Detached retinas ETC. In fact, according to the wikipedia entry below, 90% of all "Blind" people have the type of blindness you describe.
However, I’d suggest that should you wish to be truly politically correct, you rather try to portray the character as a real person, either new at blindness and scared and relearning life skills, or as someone who doesn’t have a disability, but rather lives a slightly different lifestyle from the rest of us. The blind live lives which are very similar to people who are sighted. They have jobs, hobbies and some of them even bungie jump!
